Kilmarnock vs Celtic – latest news with Hoops on the brink of title at toughest away ground they’ve visited this season

CELTIC’S 2-1 victory over Rangers in Saturday’s Old Firm has put them on the brink of the Scottish Premiership title.

And Brendan Rodgersmen only need a draw against Kilmarnock on Wednesday night to seal their third straight crown.

Should they fail to finish the job at Rugby Park, attention would turn to the visit of St Mirren to Parkhead on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers was celebratory after the Old Firm victory but knows his side still have to get over the line in the next two matches.

He said “We’re not over the finishing line yet, but this is a significant win for us and to do that and put ourselves six points clear with two games to go and another goal to the goal difference, then clearly it puts us in a strong position.”

Hosts Kilmarnock, meanwhile, have nothing to play for after securing fourth place and a Europa League qualifying spot with last week’s 1-0 win over St Mirren.

Boss Derek McInnes will want to end a successful season on a high though, having overseen vast improvement for the side that finished tenth last term.

Rugby Park has proven to be a tough venue for the Hoops this term.

They crashed out of the Viaplay Cup at the Ayrshire ground early in the season and slipped up to Derek McInnes’ side again in December on league duty.

That’s despite firing NINE goals there on two visits last season.
