Man charged in Spartanburg Co. woman’s death

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Investigators made an arrest and formally charged a suspect a month after a woman was killed in Spartanburg.

According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, violent crime investigators arrested suspect Juan Canino Tobon, 37, in connection with the murder of Caroline Hall.

7NEWS previously reported Hall, 30, was found dead at an address on Triple Crown Way around 7 p.m. on February 3.

Shortly after the incident, Tobon fled to New York before being arrested there on February 8.

According to reports, when Tobon was arrested he was in possession of two handguns, leading to charges in New York. Those charges had to be settled before he could be extradited back to South Carolina.

Tobon was brought back and booked into the Spartanburg Detention Facility on March 21 and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Reports stated Tobon and Hall were a couple at the time of the murder though a motive is still under investigation.
