The group reportedly hurled abuse at employees and climbed on the roof of the premises, forcing staff to lock themselves inside.

Restaurant bosses took to social media to share their anger over the frightening incident.

They wrote: “So disappointed this evening that Duncano’s, a local business, has been subject to harassment and abuse from a gang of 30 kids – aged 14 to 16 – who are on our roof, surrounding the restaurant and even entering it to shout abuse.

“Police have been called four times, yet they are still here while me and my staff are locked inside.

“This behaviour can’t be allowed to continue in our community.”

Andrew Bowie, MP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, told STV News: “This is an awful thing for anyone to have to go through. These people were just innocently going about their jobs.

“It’s hard to imagine the kind of alarm the owner must have felt, to have to lock everyone inside for their protection.

“I’m asking for a meeting with the divisional commander about how local policing responds to incidents like this. It is not a typical thing for Westhill, nor is it acceptable for gangs of people to act this way, anywhere.”

Members of the public flocked to the comments to react to the “shocking” incident.

One local wrote: “Hope you got it all sorted. Must have been awful for you, your staff and your diners too.”

Another said: “Oh my, this is absolutely shocking to read! Hope the team are all okay.”

A third weighed in: “I can’t believe this is happening in Aberdeen.”

A fourth put: “Unbelievable and horrific. Hope you and the staff are okay and sending love.”

A fifth added: “That is horrendous, hope everyone is okay.”

Police Scotland were approached for comment.
