Use my ‘dynamic duo’ salad mix to fix up your wooden furniture – it works its magic to lift scratches and restore shine

A HOME maintenance pro has shared his “dynamic duo” salad mix to fix up your wooden furniture.

It works like magic, lifting scratches and restoring shine.

This miracle solution isn’t going to break the bank either, because this cleaning solution contains two store cupboard ingredients.

Thanks to them, you can kiss goodbye to unsightly marks and bring your damaged wooden furniture pieces back to full glory.

Myles Robinson is a home maintenance expert from Value Doors.

His eco-friendly solution is easy to use and toxin-free.

“Many homeowners feel hopeless about finding a solution to stubborn blemishes on common furniture such as dining tables, consoles, and coffee tables,” said Robinson.

But salvation is at hand and all you need to do is reach for the olive oil and white vinegar for this cleaning hack.

“Sometimes, the best solutions are right there in your pantry.”

“Olive oil and vinegar aren’t just for salads,” he said.

“They’re a dynamic duo when it comes to restoring the beauty of wooden furniture and making them appear good as new.”

  • Mix equal parts olive oil and white vinegar in a bowl
  • Use a soft cloth and apply the mixture to the scratched area
  • Move around the damaged area in circular motions

  • After this treatment, add extra shine and rub in a thin coating of olive oil

  • It is important to let the solution soak into the wood for a few minutes before wiping it off with a clean cloth
  • If you are concerned about potential damage, do a spot test in an inconspicuous area first
  • Remember, olive oil can go a long way so be sparing in your usage

It’s a bit like giving your wooden furniture a spa treatment, said Robinson.

“The olive oil moisturizes and rejuvenates the wood, while the vinegar works its magic in lifting scratches and marks, and restoring shine,” he said.

Robinson suggests giving your furniture a “coat of armor,” after the treatment by applying a light coat of olive oil for added shine and protection.

Cleaning tips to elevate your home

Realtor Stephanie Booth shared her go-to cleaning tips with The U.S. Sun.

  • Use dish soap and baking soda to scrub your stovetop and kitchen cabinets.
  • Clean your carpets, dishwasher, and under appliances as soon as you move in.
  • Make a crockpot potpourri of sliced lemons, vanilla, a sprig of rosemary, and two cups of water.
  • Fluff your pillows but don’t worry about karate-chopping them.

This hack is suitable for most wooden surfaces, including oak, pine, cherry, and mahogany.

But it’s always best to err on the side of caution and consult with a professional if you need reassurance.

“Maintaining your home doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive,” said Robinson.
